Mayor takes more than 1,000 names off gangs list

Susan Hall AM, Leader of the GLA Conservatives, commented: "The Gangs Matrix is a vital tool in combating violent crime in London. The Met must ensure the right suspects are listed so they can focus on tackling the violent gang members who are driving crime on London's streets.

"Gangs are the driving force behind the crime epidemic under Sadiq Khan. More than half of shootings and nearly a quarter of homicides are linked to gangs. Londoners will be rightly concerned that while violent crime soared to record levels, Khan was removing checks from more than a thousand potential gang members.

"The Mayor needs to ensure that these individuals don't go on to commit serious crimes. He must put checks in place to flag any crimes committed by those removed from the list to ensure the new system is effective."
