Responding to the decision by Sadiq Khan to commission an independent report on the impact of Brexit on London

London Assembly member Gareth Bacon said: “In the past year, Sadiq Khan has cancelled Tube upgrades, dropped his target for 32,000 police officers and announced the closure of police stations all because he claims he is strapped for cash.

“Yet he has somehow found the money to commission pointless and speculative economic impact studies into Brexit. Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with protecting London’s interests and everything to do with burnishing his leadership credentials within the Labour Party.

“Londoners need a Mayor who has this city’s interests at heart, not someone who is only interested in notching up his CV whilst he is in the job.”
