Automated refunds for passengers ‘out of pocket’ from changes

A new off-peak fares cap for outer London has been announced by London Mayor Boris Johnson, benefitting part-time and home workers.

Furthermore, people who initially lost out due to changes to the fares limit, will be automatically refunded.

The move is in response to persistent campaigning by GLA Conservative Steve O’Connell:

“Several months ago the Mayor announced great changes that significantly lowered daily and weekly Oyster and Contactless card caps, benefitting part-time and home workers with flexible working patters. However, a small number of outer London workers, such as in my Croydon and Sutton constituencies, were still losing out because of changes to off-peak fare limits, that were introduced at the same time. I’ve worked closely with the Mayor, and I’m pleased that the vast majority of those who were out of pocket by the fares oversight will now be automatically refunded on their Oyster cards. Londoners will benefit from our hard won daily fares cap.
