Balloon Debate: We've changed London. What would you change? Sponsored by The London Taxi Company

When is your event? 12:30-2pm, Monday 30th September

Where is it happening? Exchange 2&3, Manchester Central

Why should I come to your event? Will there food? Yes

Why should I stay once I’ve eaten the food? Obviously we’re all thrilled that Boris Johnson is the Mayor of London and it’s clear that London is a much better place because of it. However Conservative London Assembly Members believe that it could be better still. That is why we’ve been writing reports on such subjects as Sponsoring the tube to hold down fares, saving London’s pubs, ending tube strikes and opening up the Met’s secret crime museum to the public.

So we’ll start by running through some of our ideas for improving London and then the real fun begins as we launch the balloon debate. This will give you a chance to explain the one policy you’d introduce that would most improve London.

What is a ‘balloon debate’? A balloon debate invites you to imagine that all of the speakers are flying in a hot-air balloon which is losing altitude and that someone must be thrown out if everyone is not to die. The various speakers each have a chance to explain why their idea (to improve London) is the best one, and the audience votes for which speaker should be tipped over the side.

Anything else? The best idea could become an official report. And there’ll also be a chance to make suggestions for how you’d improve London on twitter using the hashtag #GLAConservatives
