Olympic Stadium reaction: Statement from Andrew Boff AM

Commenting on this morning’s announcement on the future of the London Stadium, London Assembly member Andrew Boff said:

“The report establishes that this project was fundamentally flawed from the 2007 decision to include an athletics track that could not be converted for a footballing future.

“That bound the hands of the OPDC and LLDC in terms of who they could pitch the stadium to and ultimately left politicians desperate to get it used and open to any offers.

“Boris is blamed for not making the right decision on the stadium but there was no right decision to make.

“Sadiq Khan has had 18 months to take charge but has delayed and delayed, especially in the production of this report. My concern now is the taxpayer will continue to fuel this sinking ship unless the right decisions are taken.”
